Reports into 2013 Chalamain Gap Avalanche
The following reports were produced by sportscotland following the 2013 avalanche incidents which involved sportscotland National Centre, Glenmore Lodge and the RAF Mountaineering Association (RAFMA).
The first and tragically fatal incident occurred in the Chalamain Gap on 14th February 2013, involving both teams. The second avalanche occurred in Chais Burn on 22nd March 2013 and involved a mountain leader training group from Glenmore Lodge.
sportscotland established an Internal Inquiry into the Chalamain Gap incident on 26th February 2013 and Glenmore Lodge conducted an Internal Inquiry immediately after the second incident in March 2013.
sportscotland National Centre, Glenmore Lodge has referenced learning and observations from both incidents to inform its continuous improvement and the wider mountaineering sector. An additional update was produced in June 2019 on the progress and developments at Glenmore Lodge.
